Digital Processing and Printmaking:
Raw photos in Adobe RGB color space are downloaded from flash cards using a flash card reader attached to a high end Velocity Micro computer with 32 GB RAM. Photo Mechanic software is used to download, rename, and edit the pictures. The histogram in Photo Mechanic software is a valuable aid in selecting pictures for continued processing. The selected pictures are converted using the Adobe camera raw (ACR) converter in Adobe Bridge CC to ProPhoto RGB color space. After completing the editing in ACR, the files are saved in the DNG format and archived. Adobe Photoshop CC is used to complete the color corrections and touch up work. Prints are made in Adobe RGB (1998) color space as desired on an Epson Sure Color P800 printer. Master files with layers intact are archived in Adobe PSD format.
Original transparencies and color negative film, when used, are scanned using a Nikon Coolscan 4000 ED scanner. The digital images are transferred to a high end Velocity Micro computer with Windows 10 and 32 GB RAM to be processed in Adobe Photoshop CC which is used to complete the color corrections and touch up work. Original and master files with layers intact are archived in Adobe PSD format. Prints are made using an Epson Sure Color P800 printer. All photographs are cataloged using Phase One Media Pro.
